2 March, 2020

After many months of trying, false starts and logistical obstacles to overcome, Ulverley School finally converted to Academy status on Saturday, 1st February, 2020 and we are now part of the Robin Hood Multi Academy Trust family.

As we have previously stated, this change will only help the school to grow and move forward to becoming the school that we all wish it to be, without bringing any changes to the day to day organisational running for you, our community. In delaying the announcement, I am hoping that you will already have seen that this is the case and that nothing from your perspective has fundamentally changed.

You will possibly have noted that on Friday 7th February, Mr Taylor, the MAT Executive Head Teacher, was with me on the doors to welcome you into school. I'm sure that over the coming months you will get to know him more as we work together in the best interests of the children, moving on to bigger and better things as a community.

He was extremely keen to send a welcoming message to you all;

"Dear Parents/Carers,

As you will be aware, on the 1st February 2020, Ulverley School officially became an academy and joined Robin Hood MAT (Multi Academy Trust). In my role as Executive Head Teacher of the Trust, I wanted to take the time to write you and highlight some of the ways Ulverley and Robin Hood MAT will be working together moving forwards and the benefits to all pupils this will bring. Currently a number of initiatives are already in place including:

Staff at Ulverley have had the opportunity to see best practice across our other MAT schools which are: Yenton Primary, Cedars Academy and Robin Hood Academy as well as share their own good practice.

The leadership team at Ulverley, led by Mr Pratt, are working closely with all MAT HTs and myself to improve the educational experiences for all of our children - this brings together a number of talented leaders and helps us to pool ideas and grow learning opportunities in all of our schools.

Ulverley pupils have begun to attend events at our other schools (already we have run a number of intersport competitions in which Ulverley have participated) and this will grow further over time.

Over the course of the next six months you will also see an investment of funds into the school building at Ulverley including:

Redecoration of internal elements of the building including new carpets and key areas being repainted.

New signs as you enter the school and refurbishment of the reception area that parents come into.

Replacement of the gate at the entrance to the school.

The MAT has also applied to the DFE for further grants to uplift the exterior of the building - this is subject to DFE approval and limited to a set number of schools across the country - we will know the outcome at the end of March.

We are excited to be welcoming the Ulverley community into the MAT and, over the course of the next few months, I look forward to meeting some of you on the occasions that I visit the school. In the meantime, if you would like to know more about what we do then please visit www.robinhoodmat.co.uk and watch the vision video we have created."

Have a great weekend.

Mark and Steve
