Happy New Year!!

Welcome back to a new term and a new year. I hope that your Christmas was filled with light, love and warmth and that you are ready to face the opportunities and challenges of a brand new decade.

After challenges and setbacks of our own, we are now set to sign the contracts that will convert us from a Local Authority school to an Academy, completing our entry into Robin Hood MAT. This will mark the start of a new era of collaboration and opportunity for the school. It will open up new thinking, new opportunities and new resources for school improvement.

Despite this change, we will always remain at heart a Solihull school serving Solihull families in Solihull. We intend to remain as part of the Solihull family of schools, drawing upon the skills, expertise and opportunities offered by our own family of schools.

As previously stated, you will see no difference in

day to day appearance or running of the school. The changes will very much be "backroom" in nature, but will permeate all aspects so that the provision of the school starts to better reflect our aspirations as we become the best that we can be, offering the all round world class education that inspires our children to fulfill that spark of potential which exists in all of them.

This will also be the theme of my next assembly, we improve not because we are not good enough, but in an effort to be the best we can be.

Looking at our Teamship Rules, our moral compass that steers our actions towards the organisation, community and people we aspire to be, I will be asking the children four critical questions that will guide their pathway to greater glories.

1. What is it that you want to achieve? What learning do you have to do? What will you be able to do that you can't do now?

Only do what is beneficial.

2. Why do you want those outcomes? What is your purpose? How will they have a significant impact upon who you are or where you are heading?

Be positive, resilient and move forward.

3. Who are you? Who will be able to support you in achieving your dreams? Who can provide a good example for you to follow?

Believe in yourself and others.

4. How are you going to get there? How will you go about fulfilling that potential? How will you improve ad progress? How will you know that you are getting closer?

Be purposeful.

This new year, new decade, new chapter, let's all keep these four critical questions at the heart of all that we do as together we tread the pathway to mutual greater glories, fulfilling the spark of potential that sits within us all and creating a better future for our global community, discovering that gentleness, decency and bravery are available to all.
